What Seccione Beach is like
Seccione, also known as the beach of the Prunini, lies on Elba's north coast, along the road from Portoferraio to Enfola, roughly halfway between the two. It is about 200 metres long, with a bottom of white shingle mixed with golden sand and remarkably clear water, especially on sirocco days. It still has a wild look, with Mediterranean scrub running down towards the shore.
Getting there
On the Portoferraio–Enfola provincial road you leave the car in the lay-bys along the road, as there is no proper car park, and walk down: the descent has more than 120 steps, which you will have to climb back up. The area is served by bus line 7. After the storm of September 2025 access was closed because of landslides; the beach reopened to pedestrians in May 2026 by municipal order, together with Sansone and Sorgente.
Which wind to go with
It is recommended with the sirocco, the south wind and the libeccio (south-west wind), which this north-facing stretch of coast is sheltered from; with the sirocco the water is especially clear.
Facilities and tips
The most recent guides report a beach establishment with umbrellas and sunbeds, a bar and canoe, pedal boat and SUP hire, alongside stretches of free beach. The seabed and the rocky coast on either side are interesting for snorkelling. With small children, bear in mind the climb back up the steps; bring water and comfortable shoes.
