Hotels
on Elba Island

“All-inclusive, no worries — the sea starts right outside your door”

Elba's hotels range from family-run properties, where hospitality still feels traditional, to resorts with spa and pool directly overlooking the sea. Most island hotels offer half-board — an ideal formula for those who want to discover the local cuisine (fresh fish, cacciucco, schiaccia briaca) without giving up the comfort of a meal ready when you return from the beach.

The largest concentration of hotels is along the coast of Marina di Campo, overlooking the island's widest gulf, and in the municipality of Portoferraio, ideal for those who want to explore Elba's history among the Medici forts, Napoleon's Villa dei Mulini and the harbour.

Half-board often included — breakfast and dinner with a local menu every evening
Pool, sun deck and entertainment — ideal for families with children
Booking recommended at least 3-4 months in advance for July and August

Camping
on Elba Island

“The scent of the pine forest in the morning, the sound of the sea at night”

Camping on Elba means an authentic experience in touch with the Mediterranean nature: maritime pines, strawberry tree and myrtle scrub, and the sea just a few steps away. Elba's campsites are not all alike: alongside classic pitches you'll find fully equipped bungalows, mobile homes with every comfort, and the increasingly popular glamping — luxury tents with double bed, private bathroom and outdoor deck, for those who want a real connection with nature without giving up comfort.

The campsites are mainly concentrated in the Lacona area (Capoliveri), in the pine forests of Biodola and Scaglieri (Portoferraio) and around Marina di Campo. Many of them have a private reserved beach, restaurant, supermarket and entertainment.

Pitches, bungalows and glamping — choose based on your holiday style
The best pitches sell out fast: book from December-January for the summer

Apartments
on Elba Island

“Your home, a stone's throw from the sea — the freedom of a real holiday”

Apartments and holiday homes on Elba are the favourite choice of families, groups of friends and couples looking for maximum independence: their own kitchen, free schedule, space to live as if at home. The island has accommodation for every taste, from studios by the sea for couples to two-bedroom flats with private garden ideal for larger families.

The main advantage is economic: for stays of 1-2 weeks, a well-chosen apartment costs significantly less than a hotel at the same quality level, especially if you cook some of your meals. The most sought-after locations are Procchio, Biodola, Marina di Campo and the historic centre of Capoliveri.

Fully equipped kitchen included — save on meals and discover local products
More affordable than hotels on weekly family stays
Minimum stay often 7 nights during the high season (July-August)

Residences
on Elba Island

“The best of both worlds: the services of a hotel, the freedom of a home”

Residences are the hybrid solution par excellence: independent apartments with kitchen set within properties that offer typical hotel services such as reception, swimming pool, scheduled cleaning, laundry and luggage storage. Compared with private apartments, residences guarantee more consistent quality and ongoing support throughout your stay.

They're the ideal choice for families staying 2-3 weeks, for those who appreciate not having to deal with cleaning, and for anyone who prefers a fixed reference point on the island. Many Elba residences have a shared swimming pool and are located within a short walk of the sea.

Hotel services + apartment independence — the winning combination for long stays
Weekly cleaning included in almost every Elba residence
Perfect for stays of 2+ weeks: the price per night drops significantly

Farm Stays
on Elba Island

“Vineyards, olive trees and quiet — and the sea never far away”

A farm stay on Elba is a working farm that takes in guests, not a hotel in the countryside: in Tuscany the law ties this kind of hospitality to genuine farming. You sleep in rooms or apartments carved out of old farmhouses, often with a garden and sometimes a pool, and when the farm serves breakfast or dinner its own produce reaches the table: wine, extra-virgin olive oil, honey, vegetables from the garden.

Farm stays sit behind the coast, among hills and valleys: in the countryside of Porto Azzurro and Capoliveri, on the hills of Portoferraio, on the slopes of Rio and at the foot of Monte Capanne in Marciana. The island is small and the sea is never far — sometimes within walking distance — but they mostly suit travellers who want quiet and space more than a seafront, and want to know the Elba that makes Aleatico and Ansonica wines.

Real working farms — vineyards, olive groves and vegetable gardens in production, not just a farmhouse in the country
The farm's own wine, oil and honey — often on sale right where you stay
Ask how far the beach is: at some farm stays you can walk to the sea, at others you need a car

Agencies
on Elba Island

“A wide selection of private properties, with professional support”

The real estate agencies specialised in holiday rentals on Elba manage the largest catalogue of private properties on the island: villas with garden and pool, sea-view apartments, country houses tucked into nature and historic homes in the medieval villages. Turning to an agency means being able to choose among dozens or hundreds of different properties, finding the exact match for your needs.

Elba's most established agencies have been operating on the island for decades and know every property in detail. They offer multilingual support (Italian, English, German, French), help you choose the most suitable area and guarantee professional management of contracts, keys and any issues during your stay.

Huge catalogue — villas, apartments, country houses, historic properties
Multilingual support — professionals with decades of experience on Elba

Contact the agency as early as possible: the best properties book up 6-12 months in advance

Frequently asked questions about where to stay on Elba

Answers to the most common questions to help you choose the right accommodation on Elba Island.

The earlier, the better. For July and August — the busiest months — we recommend booking at least 4-6 months in advance (December-February for the following summer). The most popular properties, beachfront campsite pitches and exclusive villas sell out even earlier. June and September instead offer more availability, with great last-minute deals often available until a few weeks before the date.
It depends on what you're looking for: Marina di Campo is ideal for families with children, thanks to its long flat beach and many services. Portoferraio is perfect for history lovers who want to explore the island. Capoliveri and Porto Azzurro are quieter and more romantic. The Marciana Marina / Procchio area is excellent for sea lovers with crystal-clear waters. For those seeking nature, Lacona and Cavoli are unbeatable.
Elba is mainly reached by ferry from Piombino (LI) — about a 1-hour crossing to Portoferraio. The main operators are Moby Lines and Toremar. There are also connections from Rio Marina and Cavo to Piombino. In summer you can also reach the island by plane, with seasonal flights to Marina di Campo airport. We recommend booking your ferry together with your accommodation, especially for August.
Absolutely yes. May, June and September are often considered the best months to visit Elba: fewer crowds, lower prices, sea already pleasant (20-22°C in June, up to 24°C between July and September), lush landscapes and ideal conditions for hiking. October and November are perfect for nature lovers, with autumn colours and mushrooms. Even December-February has its charm: many villages like Capoliveri and Marciana retain the authentic atmosphere of off-season Elba.
Families with young children find their ideal solution in hotels with entertainment and pool — children always have something to do and parents can relax. Alternatively, an apartment near the beach lets you manage meals and the children's pace with maximum flexibility. Campsites such as Camping Lacona and Villa Ombrosa are highly appreciated by families for their green setting and dedicated services. The most child-friendly beaches are Marina di Campo, Procchio and Biodola: fine sand, shallow and gradually deepening waters.
