What Acquaviva Beach is like
Acquaviva is a small bay on Elba's north coast, along the road from Portoferraio to Enfola, a few hundred metres from the beaches of Sorgente and Sansone. It sits in a little inlet with vegetation reaching right down to the shore; the bottom is made of white pebbles, pale gravel and sand, and the sea stands out for its clarity.
Getting there
Drive along the Portoferraio–Enfola provincial road for about 4.5 km; a short dirt road and a small path then lead down to the beach. Parking is limited, near the campsite behind the bay or along the provincial road. The area is served by bus line 7. After storm damage, in February 2026 Acquaviva was reported among the Portoferraio beaches with run-down, difficult access, so check the state of the path before you go.
Which wind to go with
It is recommended with the sirocco and the south wind, when this north-facing stretch of coast is sheltered and the sea is calm and clear.
Facilities and tips
There are no beach establishments on the beach itself; a bar and a restaurant are in the campsite behind the bay. The rocks on either side and the crevices on the seabed are good for snorkelling. A scenic path through the pines links it in about ten minutes to Sorgente and Sansone, so in a single day you can try several coves. It is less crowded than the nearby beaches: bring an umbrella, water and comfortable shoes for the path.
