What Pareti Beach is like
Pareti is the beach of the small hamlet of the same name on Capoliveri's south coast, 3-4 km from the village, between the bays of Morcone and Innamorata. About 200 metres long, it is made of golden sand mixed with fine gravel; the seabed slopes gently and the water is very clear. Leading figures in freediving, such as Jacques Mayol and Umberto Pelizzari, chose it as a logistics base for their world records.
Getting there
From Capoliveri, follow the Morcone-Pareti signs along the scenic road; after about 2.5 km a right turn leads down to the bay. Parking is scarce and mostly along the roadside, so in high season it is worth taking the summer shuttle bus that links Capoliveri with the beaches on this side. You can also arrive by sea.
Which wind to go with
It is sheltered from northerly winds and ideal with the tramontana (north wind), the grecale (north-east wind) and the levante (east wind). It is exposed to westerly winds, which can make the sea choppy; in return, you get sunsets over the water.
Facilities and tips
There is a beach club with umbrellas and sunbeds next to free stretches of sand, plus bars and restaurants. You can rent canoes, pedal boats and SUP boards, and there is a diving school. The seabed is good for snorkelling and children find shallow water. By boat you can reach nearby coves only accessible from the sea, such as Il Calone and Le Francesche. It is a quiet, usually uncrowded spot.
