November is when Elba goes back to the people who live here. Beach clubs are closed and some hotels have shut for the season, yet the villages are lively, the olive mills are busy and there's a festival every Sunday. In 2026 the calendar centres on the Campo nell'Elba area, with one event every weekend from 1 to 29 November. This guide brings together festivals, flavours, guided walks and the practical tips you need before you travel.

Weather and daylight: what to expect

Climate sources disagree on the exact figures, but the picture is clear: on the coast, daytime highs hover around 16–18 °C, the sea stays close to 18 °C, and mild sunny days alternate with spells of rain that can be heavy. November is one of the wettest months of the year, so keep a spare day in your plans.

What really shapes your days is the light. The sun sets around 5 pm at the start of the month and before 4:45 pm by the end, with under ten hours of daylight. Start longer hikes in the morning and save the late afternoon for villages and festivals.

Five Sundays, five festivals, all in the Campo nell'Elba area and all run by the local Pro Loco as part of its Autumn Events. Up to the hill villages, down to the harbour, and a fiery finale in the lanes of San Piero.

Flavours of the month

New olive oil

On Elba olives are hand-picked between October and November and pressed within a few hours. That makes November the month of new oil: green, intense and slightly peppery. Buy it straight from the farms or in local produce shops. Find out more: Elba's herbs and local products.

Mushrooms, chestnuts and seasonal fish

Autumn rain brings mushrooms to the island's woods. If you'd like to forage, there are clear rules and permits: see our guide to mushroom foraging on Elba. On the table, alongside mushroom and chestnut dishes, the star of the month is totano. To choose where to eat: restaurants on Elba.

Hiking with the Walking Festival

The Tuscan Archipelago National Park's Walking Festival runs until 28 November 2026. Its programme offers guided outings from a couple of hours to half a day with the park's guides: trail walks, visits to villages and fortresses, and family activities. With mild temperatures and quiet paths, November is one of the best times of year to hike. Check each outing on the Park's channels. Planning your trip

  • Where to stay: the Campo nell'Elba area is the handiest base for this month's events. Many places stay open all year with off-season rates: where to stay on Elba.
  • Getting around: buses run on winter timetables and hill villages are poorly served. A car makes your stay much easier: car and scooter rental.
  • Check before you go: winter opening hours for museums and restaurants, whether your accommodation is open, and event confirmations in case of bad weather.
  • What to pack: a waterproof jacket, hiking shoes and a warm layer for the evening. Keen swimmers will still find the sea at around 18 °C.

In short

November on Elba means five Sundays of festivals around Campo nell'Elba, new olive oil, mushrooms and quiet trails. Days are short and the weather changeable: a flexible plan and a few checks before you set off make all the difference.
