The Walking Festival is the programme of guided walks run by the Tuscan Archipelago National Park: from March to November, with the heart of the programme in spring and autumn, it offers walks to discover the nature, history and traditions of Elba and the park's other islands.
What you can do
The programme mixes treks on the park's trails, visits to villages and fortresses, environmental education, children's workshops and evening outings such as stargazing. Walks last from a couple of hours to half a day and are led by the park's guides.
Where
Most outings take place on Elba, across the east, centre and west of the island; some dates also go to Pianosa and the other islands of the Tuscan Archipelago.
How to take part
- Many walks are free, others are paid: the price is shown in the programme for each outing.
- Almost all require booking, usually by the evening before.
- Bring hiking shoes, water and sun protection; for longer walks, something to eat as well.
