What Nisportino Beach is like
Nisportino is a small bay on Elba's north coast, in the Rio municipality, about one kilometre from Nisporto. The beach is roughly 120 metres long and made of coarse sand and colourful pebbles of various sizes. It is deliberately left in its natural state: driftwood and Posidonia leaves lie on the shore, and the atmosphere is relaxed and uncrowded.
Getting there
From Rio nell'Elba, follow the signs for Nisporto and after about 5 km take the turn-off for Nisportino: the road climbs to a ridge with a viewpoint and then winds down in hairpin bends to the sea. Alternatively you can come from Nisporto, along a narrower and twistier stretch of about 4 km. You park along the road that leads down to the beach. Heavy storms in February and December 2025 caused landslides and temporary closures of the roads in this area, which have since reopened.
Which wind to go with
The best conditions are with the levante (east wind) and sirocco. The beach is exposed to winds from the south-west, west and north-west, that is the libeccio (south-west wind), the ponente (west wind) and the mistral.
Facilities and tips
Although it has kept its natural look, the beach has a bar with a pizzeria and restaurant, and you can rent umbrellas, loungers, canoes, kayaks and pedalos. The seabed around the rocks is good for snorkelling. If you enjoy walking, you can follow the footpath across the headland towards Mangani beach and Cala dell'Inferno.
