A wonderful lunch by the sea... that was how the Hotel Montecristo Resort**** welcomed journalist Stefano Tesi to Marina di Campo.
A specialist in socio-cultural travel and food-and-wine reporting, as well as president of Aset (the Tuscan Food, Wine and Agri-food Press Association) and a contributor to Dove, Bell'Italia, Civiltà del Bere, Corriere Vinicolo and many other publications on tourism and food, Stefano Tesi spent a few days as a guest on the Island of Elba.
Accompanied by Elbamylove and GianMario Gentini, the well-known journalist was the welcome guest of Hotel Montecristo owner Lorenzo Frigieri and General Manager Francesco Paternò, who for the occasion had a special tasting menu prepared, showcasing some of the new dishes for 2016.
On the beautiful sea-view terrace, on a day of Caribbean colours, the guests enjoyed a real taste of summer... and of fine cuisine, created by Chef Mirabelli and his team. Among the delicacies served, which were a great hit with everyone present, were schiacciatina with sardines paired with a Vermentino Brut granita, squid-ink rice arancino, gazpacho of Capoliveri tomatoes with chickpea panelle, swordfish and nepitella meatballs, sweet-and-sour caponatina, aubergine roll and sea bass mousse with grated ricotta salata. Among the first courses, a highly original dish of spaghetti with sea urchin and burrata. Guests also had a taste of the new vegan line, the big news for 2016.
This incredible variety of dishes and flavours was nicely accompanied by white wines from several local wineries, selected by Maître Danilo Rossi.
Right after dessert, sadly, it was time to say goodbye... with the sweet taste of "see you soon" and a warm invitation to journalist Stefano Tesi to return to Marina di Campo soon.
