FESTA DELL’UVA 2019

FROM 4 TO 6 OCTOBER CAPOLIVERI AND THE FOUR RACES REVEAL THE EMOTION OF HARVEST AND HISTORY OF THE ISLAND.

Next weekend Capoliveri will celebrate the 24th edition of the Grape Festival.

From 4 to 6 October the four districts Torre, Baluardo, Fosso and Fortezza will return to challenge each other in the three days of taste, passion, ancient games and return to the past to win the coveted Bacchus.

The event is among the most eagerly awaited on Elba Island and beyond: every year there are many visitors who decide to experience the emotions of the Grape Festival up close, which has become a symbol of local culture. The three days dedicated to the ancient harvest and to the traditions of the past, therefore, returns with its folklore, the typical gastronomic and oenological characteristics and the rediscovery of the territory's past, to excite and tell the truest Elba.

This is the program of the event:

On Friday 4th October the Statue of Bacchus returns to the square and starting at 7:00 pm the celebrations will start with the competitions between the districts that will begin with the "Games of the Grape Harvest" dedicated to children.

Saturday 5 October at 6.30 pm Holy Mass will be celebrated in the Parish Church of Santa Maria Assunta and the rite of the Blessing of the Banners, representing Torre, Baluardo, Fosso and Fortezza, will be repeated. At 7.00 pm opening of the food and wine stands, with the participation of the wine producers of the Island of Elba.

At 20.00 the gastronomic jury composed of members of the "Italian Kitchen Academy" will be presented to the public and the challenge will take place with a tasting of the "typical dish" prepared by each of the four districts. The best dish will win this challenge.

Sunday 6 October the most awaited day of the event. The party will start from 10.00 am with music and entertainment and the opening of the historical procession with the cultural association "Tercio de Longone" and the archers "Archi del Grande Falco" which will be followed by the entry into Piazza Matteotti of the four districts with historical representations. To follow, therefore, the opening to the public of the districts that will stage, in the most typical corners of the village, their representations, giving everyone the opportunity to have fun and taste the delicacies prepared with care throughout the country. Finally the announcement of the winner with the award of the Bacchus and party and fun for everyone until late at night for another unforgettable Grape Festival.
