Just a few days ago, right after the great success of Milan Fashion Week, came the news that the fashion industry is looking for professionals to bring into the workforce. Fashion designers, pattern makers and prototypists are among the most sought-after roles, yet there are not enough trained people to fill them.
On the "mainland" there are several ways to get into this world, but the cost can be very high indeed, since on top of the course fees you also have to pay for board and lodging away from home.
On Elba, for years now, there has been a well-established and well-known school capable of training the new professionals the industry is asking for. It is the MANUELA STILE FASHION SCHOOL which, in Portoferraio, runs PROFESSIONAL COURSES to make fashion your job!
Every year a great many young men and women, after finishing secondary school, decide for all sorts of reasons not to go on to university and – once summer is over – look for a vocational course that brings them closer to the world of work.
Anyone who dreams of becoming a fashion designer or pattern maker, creating clothes and collections with their own hands, now has the chance to attend the PROFESSIONAL COURSES of the MANUELA STILE FASHION SCHOOL at its new premises in Viale Elba 99, near the Istituto Cerboni, without having to leave Elba.
The head of the school, Manuela Tamagni, is always available to arrange a meeting to show you the school and the programmes of the courses starting in October 2019.
"These courses – Manuela explains – follow the method of SITAM, the renowned Professional Fashion Institute of Padua, with dozens of branches throughout Italy and abroad. At our school on Elba, in addition to many sewing courses, we run:
-
PROFESSIONAL COURSE FOR PATTERN MAKER – TWO-YEAR COURSE, Level 3 (400 hours) Attendance: 2/3 times a week (lessons of about 4 hours). A pattern maker is a modern, all-round dressmaker, able to make any kind of made-to-measure garment for every body shape. Each student therefore masters the techniques of pattern making, cutting and garment construction, and knows all the fabrics, linings, interfacings, paddings and sewing techniques.
-
PROFESSIONAL COURSE FOR FASHION ILLUSTRATOR – DESIGNER, Level 3 (400 hours) Attendance: 2/3 times a week (lessons of about 4 hours). The course was designed to give students the foundations to study and work as fashion designers. The method is easy to learn and pays particular attention to the study of the human figure, from the initial idea to the design of a collection.
Both courses end with a final theory-and-practice exam, and a certificate is issued."
"For young people who want to make fashion their profession, this is a unique opportunity – the school's director continues – because normally, to follow a path like this, you would have to leave Elba, with all the inconvenience and costs that moving away involves. Thanks to our school, you get high-quality training close to home."
Call now to arrange a meeting and find out about the school, its programmes and the opportunities for a future in fashion.
