MARELBA, the Island of Elba's best-known festival of sea and beach sports, dedicated to everyone who loves the sea (Island of Elba, 18-26 June), is also about social commitment.

"Right from the first editions we decided not to address only able-bodied people – explains Dr Alessandro Davini, President of the Organising Committee – but to make room for people with disabilities too. That is how PROJECT ICARUS was born: an experience of meeting on the Island of Elba with other Italian organisations that work with young people with disabilities."

This invitation to Elba is often followed by a twinning with the guest group in its home town, creating a "network" among the organisations that work with disability in the various regions, with opportunities for everyone to grow.

Over the years Marelba has grown steadily, thanks to the work of many volunteers and the support of local institutions. "We are deeply grateful to everyone who has always supported us, financially and/or with the organisation – says Davini – but for the initiative to grow, an even greater effort is needed, which is why the 2016 edition is still open to sponsors and supporters who love the sea and young people."

Our goal now

is to raise €4,000

to carry out PROJECT ICARUS

and welcome young people with disabilities.

PLEASE HELP US TOO!

"Marelba thanks everyone who wishes to help us continue our work and bring many young people to love the sea and sport. Special thanks also go to Elbamylove.com for providing the new crowdfunding platform, through which you can easily donate by credit card, PayPal or bank transfer.

Thank you from Marelba, thank you to everyone who loves the sea."
