MARELBA 2018: in June many sports and the Icaro project

PORTOFERRAIO - ELBA ISLAND
Alessandro Davini, president of the organizing committee of MARELBA, has recently announced that the event dedicated to marine sports will be held also in 2018, with many interesting news.
The MARELBA event, born over twelve years ago to unite in a single event most of the sport at sea, and repeated every year in the month of June, was conceived first for the able-bodied subjects. This aspect of Marelba is called Sporting Events and brings together in a few days sailing, swimming, beach-volley, rod fishing for the more experienced, combined with underwater testing, snorkeling, sailing and lately also archery for the beginners. For many years now, the most significant sporting events are represented by two swimming master competitions (one for cross country and one for middle distance) included in the national FIN circuit, in addition to the Elbable regatta for offshore boats.
Since its beginning, the event has also had an important space dedicated to people with disabilities. Intact, since the first year, blind adults have come to practice scuba diving, while the second year we have organized, first in Italy, a minisub course for blind children, as well as visually impaired and norm-visioned. This initiative earned the event the medal of representation of the President of the Italian Republic Napolitano.
From the following year the ICARO Project was born and continues until now, with the aim of bringing together Elban children with disability problems with peers from other Italian regions and their carers, for whom sporting but also manual and social initiatives are organized.
In 2018 the ICARO Project will take place from 14 to 17 June, while the Sports Events will take place from 22 to 24 June. All with a rich and varied program, in an advanced definition phase, suitable for all tastes.
