Making the Island of Elba increasingly cozy even under a "green" point of view is one of the themes at the center of numerous initiatives between 2016 and 2017.

A first example is certainly the 'operation "10,000 hands for Elba Island", which was held in different places of the Island of Elba on 27th November, the first of four events for the collection and removal of inert waste abandoned on the territory. (The next meetings will be held on January 22nd, February 15th and March 4th.)

The Elba Island boasts some very virtuous community in the collection, while in others there is a bit more difficulty. Since that hotels, especially in the summer time, contribute significantly to the achievement of the percentages for the collection of trush, the Hotel Association is strongly committed in providing its support on this issue at the associated structures.

The hotels have already started specific procedures, which, however, come some inevitable difficulties. Thanks to a recent agreement with ESA, will be made available on loan for use, at the facilities, special hydraulic presses for compressing plastic waste and cardboard, otherwise very cumbersome. The activities that will use these systems, available in different sizes depending on the structures, will also receive a small incentive for mini bales of cardboard and plastic delivered to ESA. This represents for sure a major step forward for the protection of the natural heritage of the island.
