Good news about the airport on the Island of Elba, with all the positive consequences for the influx of tourists that follows: is almost imminent the start of the first tranche of works for the extension of the runway.

The topic was discussed extensively in recent months and there have been numerous articles about it in newspapers and magazines, such as JP4 which devoted two full pages to Airport La Pila. The situation, which seemed to have stalled for financial reasons, thanks to the decisive intervention of the Hotel Association released only in the last weeks.

Unless slips, the start of work should be scheduled for December and allow an initial extension of the runway of about 80 mt. Thanks to that it will possible to virtually eliminate the penalties in the load of the aircraft that can land on Elba: these penalties will drop by 10-12% to 5-6% in those 30 -50 seats (Dornier 328 and Borbardier Q300) and from 40% to 19% in those with 70 seats (ATR72) "(source Article on JP4).
