ELBAnewsLETTER - NAPOLEON'S VILLAS…. our proposal

Just a few days ago Cristiano Draghi, former director of the Corriere di Livorno and lover of the island of Elba published an interesting article. The journalist, on invitation of TeNews, wrote a nice piece on Elba, highlighting its splendor and uniqueness.

In the remainder of the text it went on to highlight a point that even in our opinion, could be enhanced more effectively: the Napoleonic Villas.

We do echoed his final exhortation "Dear Elba friends, please do something about those two villas that deserve much, much more" to tell some of the proposals that the Hotel Association is carrying on right in these months.

On special occasions such as the visit of famous people or even television coverage, we also notet that the Napoleonic museums could offer more to the visitor. They are indeed an important piece of our history and a cultural heritage of great potential.

For this reason during the visit of Prince Albert and the Monsur sheik we proceeded together with the City of Portoferraio to realize minimal intervention by planting flowers in the gardens really abandoned. Our proposal, submitted through an official letter to the Region, the Mayor of Florence and to the head of government museums in Tuscany writes, among other detailed proposals:
- Ticket Management and coffee shop through a foundation
- Reduced hours in winter in exchange for spring time from 9 to 19 and eliminating the weekly closing and extending in July and August until 23 o'clock.

We are sure that with these changes the price of the ticket would cover the cost of the extraordinary staff !

We are also trying to carry on the reconstruction of the gardens and the greenhouse with private projects and coverage of sponsors. We started with the Mayor Nardella the opportunity to promote and sell the Napoleonic houses together with tickets for museums in Florence. We invited the head of the national museums to make an inspection in Elba to realize the actual state of abandonment and the great potential of these beautiful Villas on Elba Napoleonic tourism!
