The ISLAND OF ELBA is more and more PET FRIENDLY... said also by SOS Levrieri!

Every year more and more families are leaving for their holidays accompanied by their four-legged friends. Finding a destination is not always easy, but the Elba Island (and Marina di Campo in particular) in this is the ideal place. In addition to the open spaces to make beautiful walks, many hotels and establishments accept pets and out of the shops are often bowls with fresh water to drink.

Among the many beautiful dogs that came this year to Elba, we tell you a touching story tied to two 4-legged friends on vacation in Marina di Campo with their masters. This is Wish and Hope: two beautiful Greyhounds that a few months ago were adopted by Paola and Marco through the SOS Levrieri Association.

Not everyone knows that the Greyhound and Galgo in many countries (England, Ireland and Spain in particular) are forced into a very short, life-threatening exploitation and death by the industry of racing. Racing with greyhounds and hunting with galgo are in fact responsible for decades and decades of documented animal suffering, exploitation and death of over 100,000 greyhounds. Greyhound and Galgo are working dogs with the great misfortune of being regarded as mere cattle. The length of their life does not coincide with the biological one but with the duration of their "professional career".

Seeing today Wish and Hope, beautiful, elegant but always a little afraid of what surrounds them, you can not imagine what they did before they found their new family who greeted them with great affection.

"Their rescue was possible thanks to SOS Levrieri," Paola explains, "an Onlus, dedicated to saving, adopting and appreciating, as an animal of animals, the racing and hunting greyhounds from Anglo-Saxon countries and Spain. None of these dogs is the result of an accident, indeed. The litters are studied and planned with great care. Half of the puppies are "discarded" (killed) right away. Growing, another quarter of the specimens are "eliminated" (killed) because they are inadequate to the expectations of those who have been born. Disappointed while being fair. All this is very unjust and sad. "

Marco explains that every year SOS Levrieri manages to adopt more than 300 dogs in Italy. Monthly about thirty saved friends arrive, ready to meet their new families. Transportation takes place with a dedicated vehicle to offer maximum comfort to travel.

The next delivery date will be held on September 16 at Agrate Brianza.

Wish and Hope's visit to Elba Island was an interesting opportunity to let everyone know about this reality and the commitment of SOS Greyhounds ... and who knows who, reading these lines, decides to support this association or to welcome a four-legged friend in her own home.
