ELBAnewsLETTER - THE HOTEL SCHOOL OF THE FUTURE ... a truly innovative project
The President of the Hotel Association of Elba Island Ing. Massimo De Ferrari tells how is going to bear on the island a new project for the Hotel School.
Under study since last May, and today carried out in close collaboration with the Dean Fazio ISIS Foresi-Brignetti Institute, the Municipality of Portoferraio, the region and the alternation between school and work, foreseen by the Jobs Act italian legislation, is become true a really innovative project related to the School of the future Hoteliers, so important to offer a top quality tourism in our country.
The idea is to have a real hotel on the Island of Elba in which students are not only trained but thay can also gain experience (of work) directly in contact with real customers, colleagues, tutor, chef and managers. No doubt that over the years there has already ideas in this direction, just think of the internships in the company under the existing educational levels of vocational schools and some school-work projects in other regions such as Trentino. But this on the Island of Elba would be the first example of its kind in Italy, including hotel and restaurant services, in which there is sharing in the public sector (schools) and private sector (property of the hotel).
"The project is very exciting - says the President of the Hoteliers - but its implementation is not simple for this so innovative public-private partnership. Consider, for example, it impossible in for an hotel to always buy materials like the public sector must do. At the same time, however, we are confident and believe that, once realized, our project will provide a model driving throughout the national territory. "
The next step will be a meeting in November between the Hotel Association, Elba Entrepreneurs and various associations to try to find a structure, even a private one, which already exists that is potentially suitable. Subsequently, they will study how to include it in the project and provide it with all the hotel equipment necessary for training and practice.
"Every year would be formed so about 150 of our children (under 18), which, thanks to on-site practice might more quickly find work once the studies are concluded. In the future we would also be able to let the best reach also master classes in Italy or abroad, thanks to agreements with other territories ... It would open up many exciting career prospects ... but now we must proceed step by step and for us it will be a pleasure to keep you informed on this important issue for many students from Elba. "
