Happy Easter from Elba Island... with the Schiaccia Pasquale

Among the many traditions that characterize the Island of Elba for Easter, there is one that I remember with particular affection since it was discovered by my old grandparents ... in their first vacation on the island in the 60s and 70s.
It is a beautiful bread, made in the ancient village of San Piero handmade by the expert hands of now very few ladies. It's called "Schiaccia Pasquale", but for many, like me, who knew it when still child, its name is "bread with the little birds."
The mixture of this hard bread has a unique aroma, with the addition of anise. Once baked, it can last very long ... Each bread is unique and it is so beautiful to be used as centerpieces ...... eat it is almost a shame !!!
Since then, in the days of Easter, every year this was the joyful wishes for a Happy Easter that was waiting for us on the table ... and it is the nice thought that we want to share with all of you and your families!
Happy Easter from the Island of Elba and all the Staff of Elbamylove!
